what is the difference in between an ink cartridge and an ink drum. They both look the same and i know that a drum holds more ink and therefore i can print more pages, but do they both do the same thing, and go in the same place in my printer. plz HelpI have a laser printer and i am in need of a new ink cartridge but i don't know what to buy?
In a laser printer the drum is what the image gets written on. It is metal that conducts a charge when lit by light, The charge repels the toner (ink) which is ferric oxide (rust) encapsulated in plastic. A toner cartridge is the ';ink'; a drum is the device the image is written on to transfer to the paper. HP printers combine both in the single cartridge, Brother and some of the other manufacturers make them as 2 separate items.
If the output is still good a drum is not needed, just buy toner.I have a laser printer and i am in need of a new ink cartridge but i don't know what to buy?
A drum isn't the same thing as a cartridge. Refer to the manual for directions or call the manufacturer's Helpline.

Will a Lexmark T644 cartridge fit into a Lexmark T640 Laser Printer?
Lexmark put different number's on the ink cartridge's for a reason. That reason is so you won't use wrong ink cartridge in your printer. The answer is no it's not a good idea to use different ink in printer's,even if it doe's fit.Take it back and get proper cartride. Unless on the box it's mark'ed to use in either printer.Have a good day. Will a Lexmark T644 cartridge fit into a Lexmark T640 Laser Printer?

Ink cartridge in HP Color Laser 3600DN just exploded. Any suggestions for cleaning?
I have magenta powder ink all over the inside of the printer. I could really use some advice from someone that has had this problem on how to clean ink off the film.Ink cartridge in HP Color Laser 3600DN just exploded. Any suggestions for cleaning?
Lots of paper towels, soak up all you can, alcohol is ok, don't use any oil based cleaners like paint thinner.varsol or turpentine.
Get as much as you can, Q-tips and other cotton products like balls, just make sure you can get to all the areas the ink is in, the dried ink can cause the belts and pulleys to fail, and then you looking at a replacement, but with Canon and Lexmark selling printer for $35-40 it is something to keep it mind, if the unit is heating the ink cartridge to the point it explodes, there amy be a bigger problem on the horizon.Ink cartridge in HP Color Laser 3600DN just exploded. But usually, rubbing alcohol will do the trick (unplug the printer first though, just in case:))

Do dell laser printers have smart chips that cause the cartridge to expire before the toner runs out.?
In other words, does the printer lie about the toner being empty, so you have to buy new caratridge early?Do dell laser printers have smart chips that cause the cartridge to expire before the toner runs out.?
Yes, the newer laser printer toner cartridge has a smart chip in it to prevent third party refilling the cartridge and re-use it. But I have not experienced the smart chip gave fault signal that the cartridge is empty when in fact it is not. But remember the cartridge that came with the new printer is just a starter cartridge and it is only 20 to 30% full. So many people fiound that they have to replace the initial cartridge very soon.Do dell laser printers have smart chips that cause the cartridge to expire before the toner runs out.?
Yes it seems to have a chip
Yes. The chip is programed to be used ';x'; amount of times, before it tells the printer it is empty. This also explains why, even if you refill the cartridge, it will still say it is empty and needs to be replaced. Most printers have this, not just Dell's.
no, just dont know how many printout have you done, usually a toner catridges can print out approximately 2300 printout then no more ink, don't beleive it will print more than 2500 for laser home use model.
yeah that happened to me once. The thing was new but it said it was empty...?myspace ip

I am trying to insert a print cartridge in my hp color laser jet printer 2605dn?
i think i ruined one alreadt i pulled off the orange piece of plastic and there was what seemed to be a piece of tape attached to it i kept pulling and i noticed color on it. i cannot figure out what i am supposed to do with it now. how do i put this thing in? PLEASE HELPI am trying to insert a print cartridge in my hp color laser jet printer 2605dn?
So far what you did is correct. The orange tab with plastic strip attached was the sealing tape used to keep the toner inside the cartridge until ready to use. You're supposed to pull that completely off when you're ready to use it.
Open the front door of your printer all the way down, pull out the color of cartridge you're going to replace and insert the new one in the same direction that the old one was. Close the door and let the printer run through its calibration process and you should be ready to go.
Best of luck.I am trying to insert a print cartridge in my hp color laser jet printer 2605dn?
When you opened the box was there not a sheet of paper in with the cartridge with intructions in pictures ?
If so simply FOLLOW it's guide, but it soulds like you were doing it OK.
The plastic cover protects the developer roller in transit
The tape you pull out forms an internal seal to stop the toner leaking in shipping.
Remove both and insert.
You need to pull the plastic strip all the way off of the cartridge and dispose. You SHOULD see color (or black) toner, as the actual toner seal is pulled out...so keep on pulling then remove and toss.
Hope this helps!

I would like to order a laser jet toner cartridge. I have no credit card. Who will take a check?
a lot of companies take e-checks, which are essentially checks that are processed like electronic debits.
Try that option, or go to your bank and get a checkcard which acts like a credit card online. Also, you can go to a local store and get a Visa gift card. This is a pre-paid credit card. Just put however much you need on it, and use it to buy your toner.I would like to order a laser jet toner cartridge. I have no credit card. Who will take a check?

What does it mean ';Single Cartridge System'; for a laser printer?
and if u answered that can you answer:
is';9600 dpi color scanning'; indicate a good scanner for an officeWhat does it mean ';Single Cartridge System'; for a laser printer?
I'm assuming you are talking about a black only (mono) laser
It means the printer using a print cartridge that contains a toner holder and image (OPC) drum all in one unit.
Some printers featre a toner container, and a seperate OPC unit. these often work out cheaper over printers live, but mean extra things to change.
For an Office scanner, 600x600 is good enough scanning, unless you NEED to scan VERY high resolution images. Remember a proper old fashioned photo is only printed at about 300DPI, but using tru colours, not the screen print system an inkjet uses. What does it mean ';Single Cartridge System'; for a laser printer?
Some printers have multiple cartridges for the toner. (My color lasers have 3 different color cartridges and a black cartridge,)
That isn't very good quality for scanning. $49 Cannon Lide 25 scanners are much better than that.
it means your laser printer takes only 1 cartridge that has both color and black ink.
The name of the printer would be helpful.

How easy/messy are Laser Printer Cartridge Toner Re-fills?
I just bought a Brother HL 4040cn Color Laser Printer. I'm having a hard time finding cartridge toner refills, first off.
Do you know where I can look for this particular model of toner refills? Or does it matter and I can just use any model?
Second, is it messy and/or difficult to refill a laser printing cartridge?
What are some problems I might run into?
Do you have experience doing it? If so, what is your experience?
Your insight is very valuable, it's for a home business...How easy/messy are Laser Printer Cartridge Toner Re-fills?
I had a b%26amp;w laser printer. the refill was easy, I simply removed the plug, put new toner in, replaced the plug, and I was off. If you are very careful, it will not be messy.
I have done a quick search(google) and did not find a kit for you.
a little research on your part and you may be able to find one.
the difference between color and black and white of course is that you will have to fill four tanks instead of just one.
If you worry about mess, do it on the floor in a place where you will not be disturbed, spread plenty of newspaper, and wear rubber glovesHow easy/messy are Laser Printer Cartridge Toner Re-fills?
It is easy to do but in my experience, both doing it myself and taking it to Staples and/or Office Max, the time isn't worth the outcome...
The refilled NEVER work as well as the new and if your doing something important, like business stuff, it isn't worth the 'savings'.
When I do it... I ALWAYS keep a back up NEW cartrage for when I have something REALLY important to do... Like payroll... Where there can't be smudges and skips and lines.
Get a kit and then take it up front and ask the tech guy at the store to explain how to do it RIGHT.
How to use not too much ink and not too little...
How to clean the nozles...
Exc. Exc. Exc.
They are usually 100% willing to explain how to do things if you just ask.
I have a home business also. I have tried the refill method and it is nothing but a hassle. I have bought refilled ink cartridges and they are worthless. I buy all my ink products on Ebay - and get excellent prices on brand name inks. You can save a lot of money. My color ink cartridge costs over $40 at a store and I bought two on Ebay for $14.00 and $5 shipping.
depends on which brand you are using.. for the most recent modern laser printers. changing the laser toner is easy. all you have to do is change the long triangular like cartridge. you can do it yourself. to put things cheaper.
Laster Printers use a Toner that is Carsnagenic, i personly wouldnt advise doing it. as if you accadently inhale it it will stick to your lungs like Tar from a ciggarette.
We tried a refill ONCE! It leaked! What a mess!!!
We spend the extra to get them new - no trust in the refills!
YOu should have it done by a professenial at kinkos

Life of a laser printer cartridge?
I am looking for a printer for occasional (once in a week, fortnight or even a month) printing at home. Deskjet printers are cheap but cartridges are damn expensive and if left unused they dry up quickly. Is laser printer a good option?
If laserjet is the option then roughly how many pages can you print with a single laser printer cartridge (black)? What is the life of this cartridge i.e. in what time frame can all of it be used successfully. It is very expensive, I have come to know.
I am not looking for color printing, just black. And the printer I have in mind is HP P1007. Any better options?Life of a laser printer cartridge?
Laser printer is good for you because it gives you good performance. XEROX 3117 is a good option. Price around 5000, 600 dpi print, 2000 page with 25% of coverage on a4 paper. cartredge can be refilled in just rs 300 if you dont need fine quality.Life of a laser printer cartridge?
I have the same problem with my Mother's cheap all in one HP. You can get a nice HP color laserjet 2600 from pcrush.com for around $350 and repl toners run around $80 each and takes 4 different colors. You should get 4000-6000 page counts off this depending on what you print.

Samsung laser printer ML-1630 cartridge replacement questions?
i have this laser printer for almost a year now. i am very happy with it.
just recently the ink is running out and i was trying to find a new cartridge to replace it. there're ';refilled';, ';remanufactured'; and ';generic';, can someone give me suggestions as to how to choose them and will they work well?
the new one from samsung is around 20 bucks more expansive than the rest.Samsung laser printer ML-1630 cartridge replacement questions?
They should theoretically all work.
Re-manufactured are original Samsung toners that have been cleaned out and refilled.
Generic are made by another manufacture to match the originals also called compatibles.
The originals are usually a rip off but I am more inkjet familiar than laser so have no experience of how any of the alternative toner perform but usually generic or re-manufactured would be you best bet.Samsung laser printer ML-1630 cartridge replacement questions?
Refilled means new toner powder but the original image drum.
Remanufactured means refilled plus a new drum.
Generic usually means manufactured by another company.
Remanufactured is probably the best choice if the prices are similar.
My laser printer ran out, and samsung wanted $120 for a replacement toner, so i just went third party and saved about 90 bucks. It works perfectly fine.

IBM laser printer cartridge problem...?
I have an old IBM laser printer 4019. Black ink only.
Needed another cartridge so sent for one...a compatible.
Here's the issue...my ibm printer uses a 1380200 cartridge.
I received a supposed remanufactured compatible 1380520. OK.
When installing, loud clacky clacking and no printing.
Contacted shipper. After couple email xchanges, he
ships me another remanufactured cartridge. Different reman OK.
Same problem. Seems as if cartridges not aligning properly...
Yet my original purrs like a kitten and prints fine.
All specs about these cartridges state 1380200 %26amp; 1380520 are
compatible with my IBM 4019. Yet I believe 'all compatibles are not compatible.'

If I bought a particular HP laser Printer, would I need a particluar ink cartridge for that printer?
No, sir. If you're buying a laser printer it uses toner cartridges, not ink cartridges.

Probably, they usually have an ink number and it is stated in the box what kind of ink it is.

Laser printer cartridge?
is it better to refill laser catridges or buy newLaser printer cartridge?
DO not refill them, they have an electrostatic roller and several mechanical parts which break down and when they do wear out they can damage your printer.
A money saving option is to get a refurbished cartridge. They are usually about 40% cheaper than the Original and have had many of the moving parts inspected and replaced.
Make sure you are buying from a reputable company which fully guarantees the cartridge.Laser printer cartridge?
Refilled laser cartridges work quite well, and are cheaper. Inkjet ink, however, I would say buy new. The liquid ink in them dries out in various tubes, and so the recycled ones often have issues. The powdered ink (toner) in laser printer cartridges, however, is a different matter entirely.
Good question, and where do you fill them at a good price........... I think its better to buy new..................!

My laser ml 1210 cartridge prints faint after refill, what I need to do?
The laser companies have done this deliberately to prevent refilling. As more copies are made, the amount of charge which goes to the drum gets reduced. After a certain number of copies, there is insufficient charge to attach enough toner to the drum. I discovered with Brother lasers, there is a $3 part you can buy which will restore the charge and allow refills to work. There are also specially formulated toners which are darker just for situations like this. Read this page http://ccs-digital.com/northbay.html and then contact NorthBay toner (link is in the page). My laser ml 1210 cartridge prints faint after refill, what I need to do?
With laser printer cartridges, new ones need to be agitated to spread the powder around inside the cartridge. To fix the problem, remove the cartridge from the printer and shake it a few times back and forth.myspace ip

Laser toner cartridge?
I had never used a laser printer until about a month ago. Now, I'm hooked. The quality and speed are so much better than inkjet. But now I'm having a problem. Everything was going great, but now my laser printer is printing really crappy looking documents. The ink is all shredded and it flakes off the paper. I can barely read it. What does this mean?Laser toner cartridge?
First make sure you are using a Laser Quality Paper. If it's not that it sounds like a fuser problem. The fuser is two heated rollers that melt toner to the paper. A poor fusing assembly will give you raised print, toner flaking, light print, ghosting and sometimes excess build-up on the cleaning pad. You really need to call the manufacturer of the printer and get them to go through it with you, because if you are having problems already that doesn't look good down the road.Laser toner cartridge?
That means your fuser is blown.
Let's hope your printer is still under warranty. Call the manufacturer.

Is there a way to manually rotate the ink cartridge carousel on a HP color laser jet 2550 L?
Printer flashes cartridge needs changing, but carousel will not rotate. Is there a way to manually rotate the ink cartridge carousel on a HP color laser jet 2550 L?
This is from experience with the dell printers that have the same design with the carousel. When the cartdrige access door is open there should be a latch that you can press with a screw driver (or your finger if it's small enough). That will release teh carosel and you can rotate it manually (it should turn with little effort). To find that latch look at the access door cover... There should be a protruding piece of plastic that lines up with a hole (inside that hole is your latch your looking for). That latch in essence is a sensor telling the printer that the access door is closed. There may be a problem with the gears that rotate the cartdriges, or a cartdrige is loose causing the carousel not to turn. If it doesn't turn easily don't force it. It's probably jammed. Call a repair person in that case (Or HP if it's under warrentee). Hope this helps! Is there a way to manually rotate the ink cartridge carousel on a HP color laser jet 2550 L?
i just answered this cause ur black he he
This is from experience with the dell printers that have the same design with the carousel. When the cartdrige access door is open there should be a latch that you can press with a screw driver (or your finger if it's small enough). That will release teh carosel and you can rotate it manually (it should turn with little effort). To find that latch look at the access door cover... How many pages can a laser printer print before changing the cartridge?
It really depends on how much print is on each page you print, the type of printer you have and if it has a standard cartridge or has a extra capacity cartridge available and in use.
Most cartridges are rated for anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 copies or more at 10% toner coverage per page. The type of printer determines the size of toner cartridge available and therefore how much toner it can hold. So there are a lot of variables that determine how many pages a cartridge will print.
Hope that helps. How many pages can a laser printer print before changing the cartridge?

It means @ 5% coverage that means just text your page yeild will be 2500 before the cartridge is spent.
5% refers to the amount of the page that is covered with the ink specified, this is usually used as an approximation of a full page of text on draft mode (this is very generous so it may mean the text would be double spaced) It is hard to imagine exactly what specifications are used, but 5% is the standard used by all companies, so the listed page yields are readily comparable from one company to the other. so 5% coverage is describing a full page of text

Increasing the number of pages that a laser printer cartridge prints.?
For example, if I set my DPI from 600 x 600 DPI to 300 x 300 DPI, then can I print 4 times more the number of pages? Approximately, assuming 5% cover.Increasing the number of pages that a laser printer cartridge prints.?
I know you are referring to the cartridges, but it's the printer that determined the amount of toner dispensed onto the paper. The better or newer the model the better chances of changing the settings. Most printers have a draft mode.
Most printers now a days also have and advanced section of ink dispersal where you can actually determine the amount of ink to lay down on the paper.
Read your printer manual for your HP printer, it should have a section for managing ink consumption. If it is an older model there will (generally) be no option.Increasing the number of pages that a laser printer cartridge prints.?
Simple answer, look in the printer menus for ';economy mode'; or similar. You don't state which printer it is, but most lasers (colour and mono) have an option to select low toner use mode. text will be slightly less ';black'; but usually quite acceptable. May also be an option in the driver to set it.
If you want to set a driver option to be the default, do so through the printer control panel, ie start / settings / printers. If you change the settings there it will save as a default setting. If you change it in the print options from file/print in word etc it will change only for that job / session in that application.
No sir.
A printer consumes less toner in higher DPI.
In lower DPI all the Dots would be bigger. In higher DPI the dots would be smaller and therefore consime less toner.
Dont know about doubling it but you would get more print out of your cartridge.

Do laser printers come with a full ink cartridge?
i know that that cost a lot. so in a way, it would be a better deal. thanks.Do laser printers come with a full ink cartridge?
Not usually.
They are normally supplied with a 'starter' toner cartridge.
This is often less than half the capacity of a normal cartridge.

Is there a laser printer that can print in black and in color? WITH OUT EVER USING CARTRIDGES?
Im just looking for an all out printer with multi-function-ness (you know like fax and copy. Anyways i wanted to see if i could kick the ink cartridges that caused me so much pain and suffering down to the darkest pits of hell)...............yes, i am about to take a sledge hammer to my shitty dell, its just not right! THERE MUST BE A LASER PRINTER THAT DOES BOTH!!!! NO MORE EVIL LIFE SHORTENING INK CARTRIDGES THAT YOU CAN NEVER REFILL CUS DELL IS SATAN HIM SELF IN CORPORATE FORM!
-Anthony :DIs there a laser printer that can print in black and in color? WITH OUT EVER USING CARTRIDGES?
Printers must consume something to put an image onto paper. Either ink or toner. No printer exists that does not have something you have to replace periodically.
But if you invent something like that you will be a VERY rich manIs there a laser printer that can print in black and in color? WITH OUT EVER USING CARTRIDGES?
laser printers use toner cartridges.
When you have a colour laser printer you take 4 cartirdges at a minumum of $100 a pop.
Color is an expensive option.
I would recommend living without colour, and getting an all in one monochrome laser printer. one toner cartridge, although probably going to run you $50-$100 will print upwards of 1000 pages without flaw.
The Samsung CLP-300 is a color laser which you can find for about $100 delivered, if not online, certainly on ebay. I bought several of them for family members a year ago when there was a huge rebate and they cost us about $80. I recently got one for my uncle for $96 on ebay delivered - brand new.
You can get all 4 toner cartridges for $50 at http://www.ccs-digital.com So far we have only replaced a single black toner in a year of use. The printer is fast, sharp and fairly small for a color laser.
LAZER PRINTERS DON'T USE INK CARTRAGES, THEY USE ';TONER'; WHICH IS A POWDER, IT LASTS A LOT LONGER AND IS BETTER THAN INK, CONSUMABLES ALWAYS NEED TO BE USED, STOP SHOUTING.
there are plenty of them if you want to pay about 5 to 10 times the price of an ink jet.myspace ip

There are several franchised shops that will reload a laser cartridge with toner. Laser cartridges do not contain ink per se, but rather a powder containing an acrylic binder and carbon black. The Laser's fuser melts this toner onto the paper to form an image.
I've used Cartridge World with some success. Your vendor is an unknown, check the web for references.

Which laser printer model can its toner cartridge can be easily refilled and reuse?
I have two Brother HL-2040 lasers which I bought for about $50 each. I have refilled each for $6 with toner bought on Ebay. You need a $3 part called a reset gear to make it work. Without this, refilling will result in very light copies. The printers are now going on about 3 years of regular use.

Do colour Laser Printers include all 4 toner cartridges in the box?
Do colour laser printers include all 4 toner cartridges in the box already? the cyan, magenta, yellow and black toner; are they included already? or do you have to buy them separately?
thanks.Do colour Laser Printers include all 4 toner cartridges in the box?
When you buy a color printer, they are all included. But do note that when you buy at futureshop, the cartridges are only half-full and you run out of ink quickly. They want you to come back and purchase the full cartridges, more expensives and of course, you get more prints.
That is where they make the money.Do colour Laser Printers include all 4 toner cartridges in the box?
In general, yes, although they may not be full sized cartridge but only ';starter'; ones with much shorter lifespans than the regular ones. A specific make and model would be helpful for a definitive answer instead of talking in the abstract.
depends on the printer.

How to refill a hp p1007 laser cartridge by myself?
How to refill a hp p1007 laser cartridge by myself?
You have to buy a refill kit, one for black, one for color cartridges. And trust me, they are messy and not the easiest thing to fool with. I tried refilling cartridges for years and ended up making a mess every time. I don't know where you are, but if you are in the U.S., take your cartridges to Walgreens. For $10 get a black refill, and $15 for a color refill. The refill kits for home use cost more than that. If you are not in the U.S., try 123inkjets. They are reliable and cheaper than any one else online.http://www.123inkjets.com/inkjet/servlet鈥?/a>
How to refill a hp p1007 laser cartridge by myself?
You have a laser printer, the fast answer is you don't
even if you do manage to get toner that will work for your printer, the problem is that you are probably planning on refilling the starter cartridge which is only calibrated for a fraction of pages.
The second issue is that a toner has mechanical parts which break down. The electrostatic roller as well as the nylon gears and chip all need to be replaces after every use in order for a refill to work.
The final problem is that toner dust is pretty toxic stuff.
NO dont do that and dont even think of taking it somewhere to refill it because whenever an ink cartrige is refilled it will most likely damage your printer i know it will be cheaper than buying a new one but then it will mess up your printer and you would have to buy a new one and it would be even more expensive to replace the printer instead of buying a new ink cartrige so DONT do that. think about it.
GOOD LUCK!!! =]

How do i fill my laser printer cartridge?
it is a brother 2700-CN.How do i fill my laser printer cartridge?
The best thing to do is purchase a new or remanufactured one as you really don't refill a toner cartridge yourself. There really aren't any generally accessible suppliers of toner for after-market refilling like there is with ink cartridges. When toner cartridges are remanufactured they replace (or are at least supposed to) the drum, cleaning blade and toner along with checking for any other problems with the cartridge, and then seal it so that it doesn't leak (though that is not always fool-proof and it is common for many to leak). I also suspect that it would be a very dirty job as toner is a very fine powder that would make a lot of dust trying to pour it in and too many things can go wrong and damage to the drum would be likely due to the proximity of the toner so a do it yourself kit is out of the question. You can take it to a remanufacturer and have them do it for you, but it would be easier just to turn it in at a local store that accepts them and purchase a replacement.
Best of luck.

Dont know about doubling it but you would get more print out of your cartridge.myspace ip

I have a HP color laser jet 1600 and need to replace the black cartridge, can I just get it filled with ink?
I need the q6000a black print cartridge.....I heard of a local place that may be able to do this. is it possible and has anyone ever done it before? How is the quality if so? and how much should it cost you think? I have a HP color laser jet 1600 and need to replace the black cartridge, can I just get it filled with ink?

I have a Samsung CLP-300 color laser which I bought for $80 on Staples. I bought a set of 4 refills for $70 at http://ccs-digital.com but so far I am still on the original toner and it's been about a year.

What should you do with the empty toner cartridge from a laser printer?

B. Refill it with general-purpose toner.

Actually if you have a Staples store anywhere near you, you can take it there and recycle it. They give you a $3 coupon that you can use towards anything there or on a new cartridge. Pretty good deal.
If you can refill it, go ahead and save $. I refilled brother hl-2040 cartridges for $5 (instead of $30+ for a remanufactured or $60 for new), HP 1018 for $10, and Ricoh CL1000N for $50 (instead of almost $200).

How often do you have to replace cartridges on Laser Printers?
I was just about to buy a monochrome laser printer when I read a review that you need to replace the laser printer's cartridge or drum or something every 3 toners, and each cartridge costs just as much as the laser printer. Is this true?
I need advice on buying a printer to be used when I'm at a university. Honestly, I only need black ink, and there will be months when I won't use it since I will be on break.
How much maintenance comes with laser printers in comparison to inkjet printers? How long do they last?
Thanks, and sorry for so many questions, it's just so hard to pick. How often do you have to replace cartridges on Laser Printers?
Each time you replace the toner cartridge about 3 times, you need to replace the drum. The first start cartridge that comes with the printer prints about 2000 pages. Then the cartridges you buy prints about 10,000 pages. Then the drum prints about 30,000 pages.
How often you replace the cartridge/drum depends on how much you print. Unlike the ink cartridges, the toner usually does not dry out. If you get ink cartridge and let it sit there for weeks without printing anything, the inks will dry out and will not print anything. The laser cartridge does not dry out, so you can let it sit there for months, and print occasionally. At the end, if you do same amount of printing, laser toner comes out cheaper than ink cartridges because each toner cartridge prints way more papers than ink cartridges.
Summary: If you are occasional user, get a laser printer, but be ready to replace the toner soon(the starter cartridge has very little bit of toner inside - after 6 month for myself) then replace the cartridge about two years(such as myself). Then after 6 years, replace the drum also.
If you are heavy user, get a higher priced laser printer. Even though it costs more, the toners have higher capacity than lower priced toners and will end up with lower per page cost.
If you need color printer, get a ink jet printer. You need to print time-to-time to make sure the inks don't dry out.(at least once every week in color). Even though it costs more, the colors are better than color laser printer. How often do you have to replace cartridges on Laser Printers?
1.Ofcourse laser printer cartridges work out costlier than that of inkjet.
2.In all printers the replacement of ink cartridges directly depends on the amount of printing you do or use.
3.When I look at your usage,I feel a simple HP PSC all in one will do the job at the best cost.

What is the average life of a laser jet printer cartridge?
I print about 10pages ( A4 size) everyday from my HP lazerjet 1020. How long will my printer cartridge last?
After the cartridge runs low on ink then is it better to refil the same cartridge .or. is it better to go for a new cartridge? And Why?What is the average life of a laser jet printer cartridge?
Every cartridge has a rating for a number of pages it can print - usually around 3000, but some are larger and some (';starter';) are smaller - the smallest one I've seen was 500 pages. This rating is for 5% page coverage, which is considered ';average';. I believe the LaserJet comes with a starter 1500 page cartridge, so it should last you about six months.
Whether you should buy a new or refill? Refill is cheaper, but messier, and not all inks are the same quality. Some cartridges actually have chips that the printer uses to make refill much harder, as you need to reset the chip. What is the average life of a laser jet printer cartridge?
The cartridge (HP Q2612A) yields 2,500 pagers at 5% coverage (the starter cartridge is 900) a more realistic estimate is around 2000 pages per cartridge at 10 per day you are looking at about 200 days per cartridges.
You are best to buy a new cartridges or a re-manufactured cartridge (they are only about $50) since toners have moving parts that do degrade. That particular cartridge also has a find ribbon protecting the roller. These parts are intended for one service life and if they break down they can damage your printer. It is best to go with new or manufactures as all those moving parts have been either inspected or replace, this will ensure the toner is performing properly
there are 2 parts of a laser printers can be replaceable by users: an ink cartridge and a photoconductor.
An average life of an ink cartridge is about 10,000 - 15,000 pages of mixed text and graphics, of course, the more graphics you print...the faster you'll be run out of ink.
For the photoconductor, it has about 30,000 on average, so about 2 - 3 times as much the ink cartridge.
On the whether to refill the cartridge or buying a new one, is up to your personal reference: do it yourself is cheaper, but messier, buying a refill one is still much cheaper than buying a new one, but cost more to do it yourself.
If you're not doing any special or graphics, buying a refill or refill yoruself is completely fine.

How do you remove ink cartridge on samsung laser printer?
I have a samsung ML-2240 laser printer and i have no idea as to how get the cartridge out of it.......Anyone know? How do you remove ink cartridge on samsung laser printer?
laser printer's do not use ink cartridge. But use toners instead, they are quite bigger. I would suggest reading the owner's guide for intructions.

But you basically just need to pull the thing out and put a new one in. (don't forget to take of the plastic cover)How do you remove ink cartridge on samsung laser printer?
I don't know that particular model of printer but my experience with laser printers generally is that when an ink cartridge is empty it moves to the top ready for removal, or if not, you press the round button which has coloured blobs on until it is on display then there are either two little tabs either end or one in the middle which you just clasp and yank out, and it should be a simple matter to just slot the new one in until it clicks into place.
I hope this is of help because as I say I don't use a samsung and usually wouldn't answer a question unless I knew the answer.
There's no ink cartridge on a laser printer. what's there is a toner cartridge. LOL. if you want, you get an axe, hit it side ways so u can exchange the cartridge. :D

I have a Brother HL 2070N. I Refilled the laser Cartridge and the toner light will not go off the printer?
How can I reset the toner light so that the printer will work? This is the second time I have refilled this particular cartridge.I have a Brother HL 2070N. I Refilled the laser Cartridge and the toner light will not go off the printer?
Often times toner ';refills'; do not work properly. This is because the cartridge itself is only made to be used once or twice. Further, there is a chip on the cartridge that tells the printer how much toner is remaining as well as how many pages have been printed. Chances are, the chip is communicating with your printer telling ti there is no more toner as it was once (twice?) empty.
There are remanufactured cartridges available for HL 2070n (Tn350). These are available at most major office supply retailers or many remanufacturing sales companies nationwide. These will offer significant savings vs brother brand.
I also recommend this over refilling your own because most do-it-yourself kits wind up leaking in your printer or do not get the page yield you should get. Costing money in the long-run.
You can check www.envirotoneimaging.com and contact for sales. I know there is next-day shipping available across the US at no charge to you.I have a Brother HL 2070N. I Refilled the laser Cartridge and the toner light will not go off the printer?
Try checking out http://tangerineos.com, they sell reman cartridges for cheap. They have always worked for me, never had any problems with them. They ship next day too.
If you do have any problems, call em and they will replace the cart for free.
You need to have the front of the printer open and then press and hold the 'Go' button. All four lights will come on, in sequence. Release the button, and close the front cover.

How Do I Fill Up A Laser Cartridge ?
Hello!
I need to know how to fill up 2 laser cartridges for 2 printers : laser hp 1100 and a hp 1015. Cartridges : C4092A and Q2612A. One of them was previously refilled 2 times. How can I tell if it the refill will work ? Any advice / info / sites would be appreciated.
Thank you.How Do I Fill Up A Laser Cartridge ?
Unless you know what your doing, or want to clean a really bad mess out of your printer, or don't mind dirty and bad copy, I wouldn't recommend refilling a toner cartridge. Here is why.
If you look at a cartridge, you will see a green colored cylinder shaped part. That is called an image drum. It has three layers. A photo synthetic layer, a magnetic layer, and an aluminum core. That drum is were the latent image is painted on, and the toner is attracted to. It is designed to be only used once. When if fails, you will get maybe a line on you print out, or maybe a very gray and hazy background, or marks on the page.
Inside the cartridge on both sides of the drum, is a reservoir that holds your toner, and your waste toner. Inside of the toner reservoir is a series of augurs. These create the static charge, that allows the toner to be attracted to the drum. On the ends of these augurs are seals. When the seals fail, the leak toner into parts of your printer were you really don't want toner. The worst case, you short something out. The best case, you have a black mess, and really bad black marks on your printouts.
I have refilled a toner cartridge on several NEC units. Both of them required me to remove a side, and pull a plug, and dump toner through a funnel into the toner reservoir. Then I had to replace a fuse. (This clears the out of toner light.)
With an HP unit, I belive you have to drill a hole in the toner reservoir, and fill it with toner, then plug it up. Then you have to dump the waste toner. I believe that if you do a google search, you will find several sites that have refill kits for laser printers.
My advice would be if you are going to refill a toner cartridge, only do it once. The drum, and the rest of the cartridge are only designed to run through one run. It is cheaper to purchase a toner cartridge then being forced to call a printer tech, when the print quality gose down hill.

Toner has an expiration date. Check the package carefully, it should list the date somewhere. If it's not listed, you need to contact the manufacturer to find out. Color Laser Printer Cartridges?
I am looking at buying a HP Color LaserJet 1600HP printer. However I noticed that when my printer cartridges go assuming an even use between the four cartridges. It would be cheaper just to go buy a new laser printer, then buying 4 seperate toner cartridges. I know the laser printer keeps track of the pages and then stops you from printing if it has run out. How can I justify buying something that I might as well buy a new one when the cartridges go.Color Laser Printer Cartridges?
It's is expensive to buy new cartridges. There is a trend with color lasers as with inkjet. Basically you get your printer for free 鈥?you just buying set of new cartridges. Good news is that it shouldn鈥檛 be always to spend a fortune on new set of cartridges. You can refill your OEM cartridges up to 3 times before drum worn out. You can refill each color of HP 1600 less than $50 at http://fillserv.com/cic/product.php?prod鈥?/a>Color Laser Printer Cartridges?
It's like a razor. The razor itself is cheap, but the blades are expensive. The toners they send you with your new printer are just starter cartridges anyway. It will print about half of what a new toner will print.
(Just to clarify, if the yellow toner, for example, runs out before the black, magenta, and cyan, you can replace just the yellow one. Still, it is expensive.)
Those toner cartriges last a really long time. The laser printer is a way better deal than the ink jet. I have had my huge dell color laser for a couple years and I haven't replaced any of the toner cartriges yet. As far as I know you will only have to replace the ones that run out. Check the reviews on CNET.com before you buy.
The toner cartridges on my HP color 2840 all-in-one give almost 3000 pages per cartridge. I bought a spare set on sale saving about $50. I love it.

I could not find refill instructions for the specific model you have but the site in the link below has info about all different types of laser cartridges and perhaps one is similar to yours. If so it may be filled the same way. It also seems that some toner cartridges don't work with refills unless they are reset with a re-setter. I'm inkjet owner so my refilling knowledge is more in the inkjet area so the link is about the best I can do.

To my knowledge you can't refill toning cartridges. They are a sealed unit and you just exchange them if they are exchangeable when replacing them.
You go making holes in them and you will have toner all over the place which will involve a massive cleanup bill!

Is it possible to refill a laser toner cartridge?
There has been much talk on generic cartridges nowadays. Is it possible to refill a laser toner cartridge? Is it possible to refill a laser toner cartridge?
yes, but you will likely not want to do it at home. the toner powder is messy and somewhat toxic. these cartridges are quite a bit more complicated than the little liquid ink cartridges that most home printers use.
there are a number of companies who offer this type of service, including arlington industries (in illinois), and westpoint products (in pennsylvania). also, places like office depot offer remanufactured toner cartridges as a small discount over oem.Is it possible to refill a laser toner cartridge?
If it isn't then the design goes against whatever eco-friendly or green-happy course that Humans are moving towards.
It is in the Corporates interest to make them Un-refillable, or economically unfit to recycle or re-use.
Depends on the brand, I guess.
The short answer is yes, however you better be very skilled
Toners have moving parts that need to be replaced upon refilling, there are gears, rollers, and ribbons that all need to completely checked and reconditioned. Most toner cartridges will have smart chip that need to be set or replaced, not to mention you cannot put a hole in a toner cartridge, so knowing where to actually put the toner can be a challenges.
Some toners also have integrated drum units that need to be properly cleaned. This would include, most monochrome HP printers, all samsung printers, most lexmark, some konica minolta.
As a final point, toner dust is messy and carcinogenic and tough to keep from getting airborne, so ideally you would be using a particulate respirator and filling it under an industrial fume hood.
yer its posible, they go throught more ink than the ink jets
Well, refilling Laser toner cartridges is usually not recommended as during manufacturing of laser toners, old drums are replaced with new ones.
You might also need to change other parts of your laser toner which is a costly and messy process. So it鈥檚 generally avoided.
You may find more information about it in the Sources below:
No but some companies will accept them for credit.

How reliable is it to buy a third party or compatible laser printer cartridge for my HP laser printer?
I have a HP 1012 laser printer. I need another printer cartridge refill. The off brand laser printer cartridges I see online are about half price compared to the HP brand itself. A lot of the companies selling the off brand printer cartridges get good reviews online. Would you recommend buying a new offbrand laser printer cartridge from one of them? How reliable is it to buy a third party or compatible laser printer cartridge for my HP laser printer?
I would never buy an OEM cartridge. I like my HP Laserjet 1018, but I'd never pay 60-70 bucks for it. I just go to amazon and find my cartridge there (I type in the HP number for it). Then, I look for ';compatible'; cartridges. I've been doing this for over a year and I've always been pleased with the results. I only pay 25 bucks for them, also. Buying through amazon you always have that as protection as their policy is the buyer is always right. How reliable is it to buy a third party or compatible laser printer cartridge for my HP laser printer?
Hi David. In my opinion, refilling with third party cartridges is perfectly fine and one of the most cost effective methods of printing, particularly for those who do a lot of printing.
I have been printing quite a lot of pages lately because of my thesis and I guess my printing budget would have gone at least three-fold higher if my room-mate hadn't gone for refilling my HP printer with the one like this: http://www.printcountry.com/refill_kit_v鈥?/a>
I had absolutely no problems as far as using a 'third-party' thing is concerned. I guess, its just a technical hoax being played by companies so that users only go for their products but yes, one has to keep in mind that the manufacturing quality of these third party kits is not compromised. So, if you do decide to go for a third party refill, make sure the player is in game for quite a while and is playing fair and square, know what I mean?
Some people go for refilling their kits themselves. This wiki page tells a good deal about pros and cons of refilling kits: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inkjet_refi鈥?/a>

The warranty is only void if there is damage caused by the cartridges. As long as you are using a reputable dealer - you will be fine.
Also - read the fine print in your warranty, there is probably a very big SCREW you in there such as dell will only cover manufacturers defect as determined by them and you have to pay for the cost of shipping (they usually prefer UPS). HP 1018 ? laser cartridges ?
I have just purchased a HP 1018 Laser printer....
I was wondering how long would a cartridge last before it drys out ? will it dry out ?HP 1018 ? laser cartridges ?
your cartridge will last a long time and will yield you, depending on the cartridge between 2000-4000 sheets, you'll have to look up the specs for your cartridge or if you have a high yield cartridge you can expect upwards of 10K pages.
As far as drying out. I wouldn't worry so mush about that so long as you use it on a regular basis. Unlike inkjet laser jet don't dry out as easy. I would say print something out at least once every 2 months and you will be safe.

Where do you dispose of these, as we want to be environmental friendly?Disposal of laser jet cartridges?
There may be a refiller in your area that might actually pay you for the spent cartridge, or at least, give you a discount on a refilled one. Do a local search on ';Toner Cartridge'; to see who's selling refilled.
Manufacturers, especially HP, will take back the cartridges, and I believe will even pay the postage. What they do is crush it and recycle the metal to one place, and the plastic to another place, in the most environmentally responsible way, short of refilling it. Since toner is their profit engine, they have incentive to beat the refill market. Check the manufacturer's website, they will probably send you a post-paid sticker to send your cartridge back.Disposal of laser jet cartridges?
Don't dispose of them. If you have a Staples office supply near take them in to them they will dispose of them for you and Here in Arizona they will give you $3.00 off if you get new ones from them. Or you could have them refilled but you can only do that a couple times.
you can bring them to places like officemax and get a 3 dollar discount on your purchase or you can have them refill your cartridge for you which would be cheaper than buying a new cartridge.
Many office type stores such as Staples or Kinkos have bins by the front door. Drop it in one of these bins and they will be recycled.
Return empties to manu. !
return it back to your supplier and sometimes you get discount for a new one.

I was reinstalling ink in my laser printer and I kind of pulled on the cartridges to get them into the middle?
so I could install the ink. As they moved back, a red light (presumably a laser), moved across the bottom of the printer. I'm not sure if it went directly into my eye or not, but I did see it. If it did go into my eye or if I just saw it, is there any possible chance of eye damage?I was reinstalling ink in my laser printer and I kind of pulled on the cartridges to get them into the middle?
Don't quote me on this, but I believe the really harmful laser would be invisible to you. My sense is that if you weren't actually printing anything you should be ok. That said though, I would definitely recommend you give your printer manufacturer a call to confirm.

What can I do with USED HP laser Jet Ink Cartridges?
Try to sell them in Pantip Plaza, but I have not seen recycling of print cartridges in Thailand. What can I do with USED HP laser Jet Ink Cartridges?
Refill them.
I just go to a printer/computer shop and buy little bottles of ink with long ';needles'; on the end, then lift up the sticker on the cartridge, push the needle into the hole there and squeeze the bottle slowly. What can I do with USED HP laser Jet Ink Cartridges?
There are many online retailers that actually pay for old ink and laser toner cartridges. Here is a link to one such place:

Where I work, we sell a lot of the Brother brand TN-350. Everything uses them.
What's the difference (visually) between an inkjet and a laser cartridge?
My Relay for Life team has been collecting the cartridges for a fundraiser, but we just re-checked the website that we're using, and it turns out that they only take inkjets. We have two types of cartridges gathered-- large ones in cardboard boxes and small, hand sized ones. Which ones are the inkjet cartridges?
Also, if there's any chance you know of an organization that will let us use laser cartridges in our fundraiser, that information would be much appreciated. Very, VERY appreciated!
Yes, I know-- stupid question. Easy points, right? What's the difference (visually) between an inkjet and a laser cartridge?

Is it worth it to buy remanufactured laser cartridges?
yeah they work fine, i used to work at a company as a computer tech, we used remanufactured laser cartridges from lexmark and only like one in 500 didnt work. its fine to use them and you will save money and they wont damage your printer. Is it worth it to buy remanufactured laser cartridges?
Remanufactured toner cartridges work great, just as good as the original ones.
Just as long as you buy it from a reputed source, you will get a quality product for a good price.
Personally, I have used this store for quite a while (bought about 1000$ worth of Ink and Toners from them so far, If I had purchased my products through the local store, I would have paid close to 5000$.):

Quality of service and products is top notch, plus they offer free shipping in the US and Canada.

I wish to use Remanufactured laser toner cartridges instead of expensive OEM Toners. How should I choose?
HP dealers say we loose warranty ? Also Print quality is poor. and it damages printers ? Is it really a saving of 25 to 50% ? How to select a good brand ? And which are the 3 best brands one can rely on? How is remanufacturing different from the even more cheaper refilling? Is it good enough quality for colour printers also ? Can we buy good remanufactured laser toner cartridges in stores in India ? Is it legal business really or can HP sue me ?? anything to keep in mind while buying one ? Are Chinese compatible cartridges not remanufactured laser toner ? what is difference ?? Is this legal ?? Can we use Remanufactured it in my government office for official purchase against tender considering it is so much cheaper ?I wish to use Remanufactured laser toner cartridges instead of expensive OEM Toners. How should I choose?
Been there done that and my printer is broke!
Use the oem cartridges they have recommended in the long run it will save you money when you don't have to pay to fix it. Mine to fix would have been $135.00 to purchase a new one $99.00 I bought new plus got a new extended warantte for 2 additional years for only $19.99.I wish to use Remanufactured laser toner cartridges instead of expensive OEM Toners. How should I choose?
Yes it is actually illegal for HP to void your warranty based upon using a third party cartridge, they can only deny service if damage is caused by the use of said cartridge.
The best way to choose a compatible or re-manufactured cartridge is by the guarantee they provide. If a company is giving a full money back 100% grantee, go with them. If a company is not willing to stand behind their product avoid them at all costs.

Do laser toner printer cartridges expire?
If it does expire, why? How long does it generally last?Do laser toner printer cartridges expire?
I've never seen an expiration date on a toner cartridge box. But I do know that if you store it improperly it may not print correctly when you do intall it. Too much heat or moisture will render the toner cartridge useless.

I am aware that places like Walgreens do refills on ink jet cartridges, but does any one know if i can get my laser printer cartridges refilled....or even recycled, so as not to throw them in the garbage?Where can I get my laser printer's ink cartridges refilled?
When you purchase a new Toner, it will include everything that is needed to recycle the old toner. you just put the old toner in the bag, then into the box, then just stick the UPS label on there and send it out. The UPS label is paid for by HP so UPS will not charge you. Just drop it off at a UPS drop off location, or just call them and thell them that you have need a pick up for a call tag.
From personal experience, the HP ink jet %26amp; Toner's are a bit more expensive, but you will notice the quality difference, not just color, but Black %26amp; White as well if you put it side by side and compare it.
I'm not sure exactly which toner you need since there are 4 different types for that printer. You can always check the prices using shopping.com

If you have a cartridge refiller around your location check with them. There are plenty of places online to recycle them and possibly get cash as well. I use Ecyclegroup and ERSUSA for our recycling.
You can also find replacements online as well, but beware of the guarantee, make sure that they will stand be hind the product.
Those cartridges won't save you as much due to the fact for laser cartridges, they are small capacity.
That's funny, I didn't think laser printers used ink.
I think what you mean is toner cartridges, which can't be refilled. I think you can recycle them though, not too sure on that.

A laser beam produces an image on the drum of the printer which corresponds to an electrical charge for the area. When the drum passes through the toner , the toner particles are attracted to the area with the charge. These toner particles are then transferred to a paper and then the fuser rollers apply heat and pressure to make the image permanent. Refill ink cartridges for a laser printer?
I have an HP laser 2600n color printer that has separate cartridges for every color. 3 of them are empty and at $85 a pop at Staples, well, yikes!
Has anyone ever re-filled these? You see advertisements everywhere for this. If so, what where your experiences and who did you buy from?
Thanks!Refill ink cartridges for a laser printer?
In my experience, I'd only recommend HP cartridges for an HP laser printer. We've tried generic ones in the past all with catastrophic results. I can't imagine a toner refill kit providing anything but a mess.
Yes, they are expensive, but then again laser printers are, but you get a higher quality print. Maybe re-think your need for a laser, and get a inkjet. or use both, using the Inkjet for day to day non high quaility needs.Refill ink cartridges for a laser printer?
I suggest you to use only original HP cartridges as the refilled cartridges are not tested and recommended. It can make printer hardware bad. Refilled ink cartridges can ruined the toner of the printer and your beautifull printer can become a scrap so aways use original ink. Yes,refilled cartridges are cheaper but think about the big loss instead of small profit.

Don't refill toner cartridges by yourself. The toner is a very fine powder, and if you breathe it in it's not good for you. Some argue that it can cause severe lung problems, including cancer. If you don't have to because it's your profession, don't refill them.
Plus most cartridges contain more than just toner and require some maintenance before they can be put back into the printer.

Do laser printer cartridges go stale if stored for a long time without being used?
Yes they do.
For print head (Hp Lexmark, Dell and some Canon) you have a bout 2 years from date of manufacture.
For Ink Tank (Epson, Brother, Kodak) you have about 3 years.
For laser toner cartridges you have about 5 years. (The toner ceases to maintain a charge over time resulting in clumpy uneven prints)
As a side note - I Do have a warehouse full of stale dated toners.Do laser printer cartridges go stale if stored for a long time without being used?
Depends what you qualify a long time to be? 1 year, no, 10 years, possibly.
The toner in the cartridge is dry, so unlike ink, it can not evaporate. However, if it is keep in a humid environment, problems can occur.
All cartridges have expiration dates. For example, HP's dates are about 3-4 years out. After that time, if you haven't used it yet, problems might happen, but give the cartridge a good shake and give it a try.Do laser printer cartridges go stale if stored for a long time without being used?
A laser printer toner cartridge has carbon particles and a drum. The drum is photo sensitive. You may have seen that a new cartridge comes in a metalized-plastic bag. This is to prevent light from entering. After taking it from the bag and installing in the printer, if the printer receives sunlight, some light may reach the drum and shorten its life. Always keep the cartridge cool and in a dark place.
Definitely not. If that was the case, could you imagine the warehouse full of lasers and they went stale for some reason? Nobody in his right mind would open all the boxes just to change the toner.
They come sealed in a dark plastic bag for a reason. The light doesn't get to them.

My workplace throws away cartridges from a laser printer, how can I stop this?
Because my country only can recycle HP cartridges, my workplace throw away these large print cartridges built by Samsung. I hate to see this, because this is contributing to the damage of the environment. About 100 cartridges are already thrown away. Sometimes the office lady sees them in the bin and hate to dispose of them too.

Noo!!! Send them back to whomever you guys purchase them from. I'm sure they will give you a return label. These things are bad for the environment and companies love to reuse these things b/c it saves them money also. I'm sure even a local shop will take them from you (and reuse/refill them). i know they cost more, but let's say they cost twice as much as inkjet cartridges, do they last twice as long as regular? thx for answering.Do laser print cartridges generally last longer than standard black ink cartridges?
A standard black inket at about $20 will give you about 200 prints.
A black toner at $60 will give you 2000.
Laser printers are bay far the more economical choice. There are some exceptions to that rule so always price out the toner and page yields when buying a laser printer.Do laser print cartridges generally last longer than standard black ink cartridges?
They better last longer since they cost more. Report Abuse
Yes they last much longer. The laser cartridges I have used can print just over 2000 pages; the injet cartridges could print several hundred. The price difference wasn't that great, either--15 for refurbished inkjet cartridges, to 25 for refurbished laserjet cartridges.
If you don't print a lot, it will take you a while to actually reap the savings from this, especially if you pay a lot for your laser. If you print a lot, you will realize your savings sooner. I found a laser (HP 1018) that was 60 bucks after rebate; I ebayed my old inkjet for 25, and the ink that was in the laser pretty much chewed up the difference--so by the time I replaced my first laser toner cartridge, I had already started saving money, and that was over almost two years ago.
If they you are planning to use only for printing in black color, then go for laserjet printer. you can print more documents than comparing to ink cartridge printers.
But if you are planning to use for color printing then for a long run the overall cost of laserjet printer will more than to a ink cartridge printer.
if you have any model in your mind and if u need more help regarding technical specs.. email me...

Jeet
