How many pages can laser cartridges print on average?

My inkjet printer runs out of ink after only 50 pages...





Time to buy a laser printer but how many pages can I get on average? Black and white only.How many pages can laser cartridges print on average?
Tha depends on the printer tipe e.g. the toner cartridge capacity. Usually you can get a decent idea by looking at the size of the printer. Smaller desk fitting size printers will yiels a 3-4000 pages per toner (all page counts based on 5% page covering percentage, usually this means plain text). Bigger sized printers will yield 8-9000 page counts, while really large network printers cans go on for around 15-20000 copies. Usually there is a pretty good correspondence between these capacities and the initial price of the printer. So go ask a local retailer, he'll suggest a compromise between price and level of functionality.


Don't forget to ask if the cartridge is easily refillable (HP cartridges usually are). If refilling is what you are after, try staying away from cartridges that carry a chip (they are harder to hack).

Depends on what you print. If you print stricktly text then a few thousand pages. If you print with graphics then a few hundred less, but that also depends on how much of the page is covered and what you have your printer settings set for. If you print at high quality all the time you can expect less service from the cartridge, same goes with printing full graphics pages.
You don't say what kind of printer you're using, but only 50 pages per cartridge is absurd. I got a small HP DeskJet 5440 from Offic Depot and get about 400 or more per cartridge. I set it to print ';fast black'; which is lighter than the full black print, and much faster. I don't remember the statistics, but when looking for a printer check the page output - they will tell you an estimated number of pages per cartridge change.
