Increasing the number of pages that a laser printer cartridge prints.?

For example, if I set my DPI from 600 x 600 DPI to 300 x 300 DPI, then can I print 4 times more the number of pages? Approximately, assuming 5% cover.Increasing the number of pages that a laser printer cartridge prints.?
I know you are referring to the cartridges, but it's the printer that determined the amount of toner dispensed onto the paper. The better or newer the model the better chances of changing the settings. Most printers have a draft mode.





Most printers now a days also have and advanced section of ink dispersal where you can actually determine the amount of ink to lay down on the paper.

Simple answer, look in the printer menus for ';economy mode'; or similar. You don't state which printer it is, but most lasers (colour and mono) have an option to select low toner use mode. text will be slightly less ';black'; but usually quite acceptable. May also be an option in the driver to set it.


If you want to set a driver option to be the default, do so through the printer control panel, ie start / settings / printers. If you change the settings there it will save as a default setting. If you change it in the print options from file/print in word etc it will change only for that job / session in that application.

A printer consumes less toner in higher DPI.


In lower DPI all the Dots would be bigger. In higher DPI the dots would be smaller and therefore consime less toner.
Dont know about doubling it but you would get more print out of your cartridge.
